Surah Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection)

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

75:1 No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection,

وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ

75:2 and no! I swear by the self-reproaching soul:

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ

75:3 Does the human being think We will not gather his bones?

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ

75:4 Yes indeed. We are able to restore even his fingertips.

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ

75:5 But the human being wants to keep sinning in the time ahead.

يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

75:6 He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?”

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ

75:7 So when sight is stunned,

وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ

75:8 and the moon goes dark,

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ

75:9 and the sun and moon are brought together,

يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ

75:10 that Day the human being will say, “Where is the escape?”

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ

75:11 No. There is no refuge.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ

75:12 That Day, the final stop is to your Lord.

يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ

75:13 That Day, the human being will be told what he sent ahead and what he left behind.

بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ

75:14 Rather, the human being is a witness against himself,

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ

75:15 even if he presents his excuses.

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ

75:16 Do not move your tongue with this recitation, trying to hurry it.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ

75:17 It is on Us to gather it and recite it.

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ

75:18 So when We recite it, follow its recitation.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ

75:19 Then it is on Us to make it clear.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ

75:20 No. But you love what is immediate,

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ

75:21 and you leave the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ

75:22 Faces that Day will be radiant,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ

75:23 looking toward their Lord.

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ

75:24 And faces that Day will be gloomy,

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ

75:25 sure that a backbreaking calamity will be done to them.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ

75:26 No. When [the soul] reaches the collarbones,

وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ

75:27 and it is said, “Who can recite a cure?”

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ

75:28 and he is sure that this is the parting,

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ

75:29 and one leg is wrapped around the other,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ

75:30 to your Lord he is driven that Day.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ

75:31 He did not accept the truth, and he did not pray;

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

75:32 instead, he denied and turned away,

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ

75:33 then went back to his family swaggering.

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ

75:34 Woe to you, and woe again.

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ

75:35 Again, woe to you, and woe again.

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى

75:36 Does the human being think he will be left to himself?

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ

75:37 Was he not a drop from semen emitted?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

75:38 Then he became a clinging clot, and He created and shaped him.

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

75:39 Then He made from it the two sexes, male and female.

أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ

75:40 Is such a One not able to give life to the dead?
