Surah At-Tur (The Mount)

وَٱلطُّورِ

52:1 By the Mount,

وَكِتَـٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ

52:2 and by a written Book

فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ

52:3 on parchment spread open,

وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ

52:4 and by the Frequented House,

وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ

52:5 and by the raised roof,

وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ

52:6 and by the sea filled to the brim:

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ

52:7 your Lord’s punishment is surely coming.

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ

52:8 No one can hold it back.

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا

52:9 On the Day the sky shakes violently,

وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا

52:10 and the mountains move away,

فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

52:11 then woe that Day to the deniers,

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ

52:12 who play around, plunged in empty talk.

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

52:13 On the Day they are shoved violently into the Fire of Hell:

هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

52:14 “This is the Fire you used to deny.

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

52:15 So is this magic [as you claimed], or is it that you cannot see?

ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

52:16 Burn in it. Be patient or do not be patient, it is all the same for you. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.”

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ

52:17 Those who were mindful of Allah [God] will be in Gardens and pleasure,

فَـٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

52:18 delighting in what their Lord has given them, while their Lord has protected them from the punishment of the Blaze.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

52:19 “Eat and drink in full enjoyment because of what you used to do.”

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

52:20 They will recline on couches lined up in rows, and We will pair them with wide-eyed companions.

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ

52:21 Those who believed, and whose offspring followed them in faith, We will join their offspring with them, and We will not take anything away from their deeds. Every person is held by what he earned.

وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

52:22 We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.

يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ

52:23 There they will pass around a wine cup, with no empty talk and no sin in it.

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ

52:24 Young attendants of their own will move among them, as if they were well-kept pearls.

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

52:25 They will turn to one another, questioning each other.

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ

52:26 They will say, “Before, when we were among our families, we were afraid.

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ

52:27 Then Allah favored us and protected us from the punishment of the scorching blast.

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

52:28 Before, we used to call upon Him. He is the Most Kind, the Merciful.”

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ

52:29 So remind. By the favor of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman.

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ

52:30 Or do they say, “A poet, we are waiting for time to bring him down”?

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ

52:31 Say, “Wait, then. I am waiting with you.”

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

52:32 Or do their minds command them to say this? Or are they a people who overstep all bounds?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

52:33 Or do they say, “He made it up”? No, but they do not believe.

فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ

52:34 Then let them bring a statement like it, if they are truthful.

أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ

52:35 Or were they created from nothing? Or are they the creators?

أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ

52:36 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? No, but they are not certain.

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ

52:37 Or do they have the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the ones in control?

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ

52:38 Or do they have a ladder by which they listen in? Then let their listener bring a clear authority.

أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ

52:39 Or are daughters for Him, while sons are for you?

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ

52:40 Or are you asking them for payment, so they are weighed down by debt?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

52:41 Or do they have the unseen, so they are writing it down?

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ

52:42 Or do they want to plot? Then those who disbelieve are themselves the ones being outplotted.

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

52:43 Or do they have a god other than Allah? Allah is far above what they associate with Him.

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ

52:44 And if they saw a piece of the sky falling, they would say, “A heap of clouds.”

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ

52:45 So leave them until they meet their Day, when they will be struck down,

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

52:46 the Day when their plotting will not help them at all, and they will not be helped.

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

52:47 And for those who do wrong there is a punishment before that Day, but most of them do not know.

وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

52:48 So be patient for the judgment of your Lord, for you are under Our watchful care. And glorify your Lord with praise when you rise.

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ

52:49 And glorify Him during the night, and after the stars have set.
