19:1 Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad.
19:2 A mention of your Lord’s mercy to His servant Zachariah:
19:3 when he called to his Lord in a quiet call,
19:4 saying, “My Lord, my bones have grown weak, and my head is aflame with white hair, yet I have never been disappointed in praying to You, my Lord.
19:5 I fear what my successors will do after me, and my wife is barren, so grant me, from Yourself, an heir
19:6 who will inherit from me and inherit from the family of Jacob. Make him, my Lord, pleasing.”
19:7 “Zachariah, We give you good news of a boy whose name will be John. We have never given that name to anyone before.”
19:8 He said, “My Lord, how can I have a boy when my wife is barren and I have reached extreme old age?”
19:9 He said, “So it will be. Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me. I created you before, when you were nothing.’”
19:10 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign.” He said, “Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three nights, though you are healthy.”
19:11 Then he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them: “Glorify [Allah [God]] morning and evening.”
19:12 “John, hold firmly to the Scripture [the Torah].” And We gave him sound judgment while he was still a child.
19:13 and tenderness from Us, and purity. He was deeply mindful of Allah,
19:14 and devoted to his parents. He was not arrogant or rebellious.
19:15 Peace was on him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he is raised alive.
19:16 And mention Mary in the Book, when she withdrew from her family to an eastern place.
19:17 She put a screen between herself and them, and We sent Our Spirit to her, and he appeared to her as a well-formed man.
19:18 She said, “I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, if you have any fear of Him.”
19:19 He said, “I am only a messenger from your Lord, to give you a pure son.”
19:20 She said, “How can I have a son when no man has touched me, and I have not been unchaste?”
19:21 He said, “So it will be. Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for people and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already decreed.’”
19:22 So she conceived him, then withdrew with him to a distant place.
19:23 Then the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date palm. She said, “I wish I had died before this and been something forgotten, completely forgotten.”
19:24 Then he called to her from below her, “Do not grieve. Your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.”
19:25 Shake the trunk of the date-palm toward you; it will drop fresh, ripe dates on you.
19:26 So eat, drink, and take comfort. If you see any human being, say, “I have vowed a fast to the Most Merciful, so I will not speak today to any human being.”
19:27 Then she came to her people carrying him. They said, “Mary, you have brought something outrageous.
19:28 Sister of Aaron, your father was not a wicked man, and your mother was not unchaste.”
19:29 So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to someone who is a child in the cradle?”
19:30 He said, “I am Allah’s servant. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.
19:31 He has made me blessed wherever I am, and has instructed me in prayer and charity as long as I am alive,
19:32 and dutiful to my mother. He has not made me arrogant or wretched.
19:33 Peace is on me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised alive.”
19:34 That is Jesus, son of Mary, the true statement about which they dispute.
19:35 It is not for Allah to take any son. Glory be to Him. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is.
19:36 Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.
19:37 But the factions among them differed [about Jesus]. So woe to those who disbelieve when they witness a great Day.
19:38 How sharply they will hear and see on the Day they come to Us! But today the wrongdoers are clearly lost.
19:39 Warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter is settled, while they are heedless and do not believe.
19:40 We alone will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and to Us they will be returned.
19:41 Mention Abraham in the Book. He was a deeply truthful man, a prophet.
19:42 When he said to his father, “My father, why do you worship what cannot hear, cannot see, and cannot help you at all?
19:43 My father, knowledge has come to me that has not come to you, so follow me, and I will guide you to a straight path.
19:44 My father, do not serve Satan. Satan has always been defiant toward the Most Merciful.
19:45 My father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Merciful may touch you, and then you would become an ally of Satan.”
19:46 He said, “Are you turning away from my gods, Abraham? If you do not stop, I will surely stone you. Leave me for a long time.”
19:47 He said, “Peace be on you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; He has always been gracious to me.
19:48 And I will withdraw from you and from what you call on besides Allah. I will call on my Lord; I hope I will not be wretched in calling on my Lord.”
19:49 So when he left them and what they worshiped besides Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each one a prophet.
19:50 And We gave them from Our mercy, and gave them a high and truthful reputation.
19:51 And mention Moses in the Book. He was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.
19:52 We called him from the right side of the Mount, and drew him near for private speech.
19:53 And from Our mercy We gave him his brother Aaron as a prophet.
19:54 And mention Ishmael in the Book. He was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.
19:55 He used to command his family to pray and give zakah, and he was pleasing to his Lord.
19:56 And mention Enoch in the Book. He was deeply truthful, a prophet.
19:57 And We raised him to a high station.
19:58 They were among the prophets Allah favored: from Adam’s descendants, from those We carried with Noah, from Abraham’s and Israel’s [Jacob’s] descendants, and from those We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell down in prostration, weeping.
19:59 Then after them came successors who neglected prayer and followed desires, so they will soon meet ruin.
19:60 Except those who repent, believe, and do what is right. They will enter Paradise and will not be wronged in the least.
19:61 Gardens of Eden, which the Most Merciful promised His servants in the unseen. His promise is sure to come.
19:62 There they will hear no empty talk, only peace. There they will have their provision, morning and evening.
19:63 That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were mindful.
19:64 We [the angels] do not descend except by your Lord’s command. To Him belongs what is before us, what is behind us, and what is between them. Your Lord is never forgetful.
19:65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them. So worship Him, and be steady in His worship. Do you know any equal to Him?
19:66 The human being says, “When I am dead, will I really be brought out alive?”
19:67 Does the human being not remember that We created him before, when he was nothing?
19:68 By your Lord, We will gather them [the deniers] and the devils, then bring them around Hell, down on their knees.
19:69 Then We will pull out from every group those of them who were fiercest in rebellion against the Most Merciful.
19:70 Then We certainly know best who most deserves to burn in it.
19:71 Every one of you will come to it [Hell]. This is a decree your Lord has made inevitable.
19:72 Then We will rescue those who were mindful, and leave the wrongdoers there, down on their knees.
19:73 When Our clear signs are recited to them, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, “Which of the two groups has the better standing and the finer gathering?”
19:74 How many generations We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and appearance.
19:75 Say, “Whoever is lost, let the All-Merciful [whose mercy reaches all creation] let him go on and on, until, when they see what they were promised, whether the punishment or the Hour, they will know who is worse in position and weaker in forces.”
19:76 And Allah increases those who accept guidance in guidance. Lasting good deeds are better with your Lord in reward, and better as a return.
19:77 Have you seen the one who disbelieved in Our signs and said, “I will surely be given wealth and children”?
19:78 Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken a pledge from the All-Merciful?
19:79 No! We will record what he says, and We will prolong the punishment for him.
19:80 We will inherit from him the wealth and children he speaks of, and he will come to Us alone.
19:81 They have taken gods besides Allah so that they may be a source of honor for them.
19:82 No! Those gods will reject having been worshipped and will become their opponents.
19:83 Have you not seen that We have sent the devils against the disbelievers, stirring them up relentlessly?
19:84 So do not rush things against them. We are only counting down their time.
19:85 On the Day We gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as an honored delegation,
19:86 and drive the guilty to Hell, thirsty,
19:87 no one will have power of intercession except those who have a covenant with the Most Merciful.
19:88 They say, “The Most Merciful has taken a child.”
19:89 You have certainly brought forth something outrageous.
19:90 The heavens almost tear apart from it, the earth splits open, and the mountains collapse in ruins,
19:91 because they attributed a child to the Most Merciful.
19:92 It is not fitting for the Most Merciful to take a child.
19:93 Everyone in the heavens and the earth will come to the Most Merciful as a servant.
19:94 He has taken full account of them and counted them one by one.
19:95 Each of them will come to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.
19:96 Those who believed and did good deeds, the Most Merciful will grant them love.
19:97 So We have made it [the Quran] easy in your language only so you may give good news with it to those mindful of Allah, and warn with it a hostile people.
19:98 How many generations before them We destroyed. Can you sense a single one of them, or hear even a whisper from them?
