The Death of His Mother

Aminah took her son to Yathrib to visit relatives of his father. On the return journey she died at al-Abwa, between Makkah and Madinah. He was about six.

He was brought back to Makkah by her servant Umm Ayman, who remained attached to the household for the rest of her life, and passed into the care of his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib.
