Surah Al-Layl (The Night)

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

92:1 By the night when it covers,

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

92:2 and by the day when it shines clear,

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

92:3 and by the One who created male and female,

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

92:4 your efforts are truly different.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

92:5 As for the one who gives and is mindful,

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

92:6 and believes in what is best,

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

92:7 We will make the easy way easy for him.

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

92:8 But as for the one who withholds and thinks he needs nothing,

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

92:9 and denies what is best,

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

92:10 We will make the hard way easy for him.

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

92:11 His wealth will not help him when he falls.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

92:12 It is for Us to give guidance.

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

92:13 The Hereafter and this first life are truly Ours.

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ

92:14 So I warn you of a blazing Fire.

لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى

92:15 No one will burn in it except the most wretched,

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

92:16 the one who denied and turned away.

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى

92:17 But the one most mindful of Allah [God] will be kept far from it,

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

92:18 the one who gives his wealth to purify himself,

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ

92:19 not because anyone has a favor with him that needs to be repaid,

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

92:20 but only seeking the approval of his Lord, the Most High.

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

92:21 And he will surely be pleased.
