Surah Al-Infitar (The Cleaving)

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ

82:1 When the sky splits open,

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ

82:2 and when the stars fall away,

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ

82:3 and when the seas burst forth,

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ

82:4 and when the graves spill out,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ

82:5 ˹then˺ each soul will know what it has sent forth or left behind.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ

82:6 O humanity! What has emboldened you against your Lord, the Most Generous,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ

82:7 Who created you, fashioned you, and perfected your design,

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ

82:8 moulding you in whatever form He willed?

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ

82:9 But no! In fact, you deny the ˹final˺ Judgment,

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ

82:10 while you are certainly observed by vigilant,

كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ

82:11 honourable angels, recording ˹everything˺.

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

82:12 They know whatever you do.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ

82:13 Indeed, the virtuous will be in bliss,

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ

82:14 and the wicked will be in Hell,

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ

82:15 burning in it on Judgment Day,

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ

82:16 and they will have no escape from it.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ

82:17 What will make you realize what Judgment Day is?

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ

82:18 Again, what will make you realize what Judgment Day is?

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ

82:19 ˹It is˺ the Day no soul will be of ˹any˺ benefit to another whatsoever, for all authority on that Day belongs to Allah ˹entirely˺.
