Surah Al-A'la (The Most High)

سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى

87:1 Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

87:2 who created and shaped,

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ

87:3 who set the measure, then guided,

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ

87:4 who brings out the pasture,

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ

87:5 then turns it into dark stubble.

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ

87:6 We will make you [Prophet] recite, and you will not forget,

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ

87:7 except what Allah [God] wills. He knows what is open and what is hidden.

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

87:8 We will smooth your way to what is easy.

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

87:9 So remind, if the reminder will help.

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ

87:10 The one who fears will take heed,

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى

87:11 and the most wretched will avoid it:

ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

87:12 the one who will enter the greatest Fire.

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ

87:13 Then he will not die there, nor will he live.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

87:14 The one who purifies himself has certainly succeeded,

وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ

87:15 and remembers the name of his Lord and prays.

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

87:16 But you prefer the life of this world,

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ

87:17 while the Hereafter is better and longer-lasting.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ

87:18 This [message] is surely in the earlier scriptures,

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

87:19 the scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
