Surah Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection)

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

75:1 I do swear by the Day of Judgment!

وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ

75:2 And I do swear by the self-reproaching soul!

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ

75:3 Do people think We cannot reassemble their bones?

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ

75:4 Yes ˹indeed˺! We are ˹most˺ capable of restoring ˹even˺ their very fingertips.

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ

75:5 Still people want to deny what is yet to come,

يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

75:6 asking ˹mockingly˺, “When is this Day of Judgment?”

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ

75:7 But when the sight is stunned,

وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ

75:8 and the moon is dimmed,

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ

75:9 and the sun and the moon are brought together,

يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ

75:10 on that Day one will cry, “Where is the escape?”

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ

75:11 But no! There will be no refuge.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ

75:12 On that Day all will end up before your Lord.

يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ

75:13 All will then be informed of what they have sent forth and left behind.

بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ

75:14 In fact, people will testify against their own souls,

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ

75:15 despite the excuses they come up with.

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ

75:16 Do not rush your tongue trying to memorize ˹a revelation of˺ the Quran.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ

75:17 It is certainly upon Us to ˹make you˺ memorize and recite it.

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ

75:18 So once We have recited a revelation ˹through Gabriel˺, follow its recitation ˹closely˺.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ

75:19 Then it is surely upon Us to make it clear ˹to you˺.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ

75:20 But no! In fact, you love this fleeting world,

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ

75:21 and neglect the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ

75:22 On that Day ˹some˺ faces will be bright,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ

75:23 looking at their Lord.

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ

75:24 And ˹other˺ faces will be gloomy,

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ

75:25 anticipating something devastating to befall them.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ

75:26 But no! ˹Beware of the day˺ when the soul reaches the collar bone ˹as it leaves˺,

وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ

75:27 and it will be said, “Is there any healer ˹who can save this life˺?”

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ

75:28 And the dying person realizes it is ˹their˺ time to depart,

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ

75:29 and ˹then˺ their feet are tied together ˹in a shroud˺.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ

75:30 On that day they will be driven to your Lord ˹alone˺.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ

75:31 This denier neither believed nor prayed,

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

75:32 but persisted in denial and turned away,

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ

75:33 then went to their own people, walking boastfully.

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ

75:34 Woe to you, and more woe!

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ

75:35 Again, woe to you, and even more woe!

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى

75:36 Do people think they will be left without purpose?

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ

75:37 Were they not ˹once˺ a sperm-drop emitted?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

75:38 Then they became a clinging clot, then He developed and perfected their form,

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

75:39 producing from it both sexes, male and female.

أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ

75:40 Is such ˹a Creator˺ unable to bring the dead back to life?
