Surah Al-Mursalat (The Emissaries)

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا

77:1 By those ˹winds˺ sent forth successively,

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا

77:2 and those blowing violently,

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا

77:3 and those scattering ˹rainclouds˺ widely!

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا

77:4 And ˹by˺ those ˹angels˺ fully distinguishing ˹truth from falsehood˺,

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا

77:5 and those delivering revelation,

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا

77:6 ending excuses and giving warnings.

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ

77:7 Surely, what you are promised will come to pass.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ

77:8 So when the stars are put out,

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ

77:9 and the sky is torn apart,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ

77:10 and the mountains are blown away,

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ

77:11 and the messengers’ time ˹to testify˺ comes up—

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ

77:12 for which Day has all this been set?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ

77:13 For the Day of ˹Final˺ Decision!

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ

77:14 And what will make you realize what the Day of Decision is?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:15 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

77:16 Did We not destroy earlier disbelievers?

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

77:17 And We will make the later disbelievers follow them.

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

77:18 This is how We deal with the wicked.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:19 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ

77:20 Did We not create you from a humble fluid,

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ

77:21 placing it in a secure place

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

77:22 until an appointed time?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ

77:23 We ˹perfectly˺ ordained ˹its development˺. How excellent are We in doing so!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:24 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا

77:25 Have We not made the earth a lodging

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا

77:26 for the living and the dead,

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا

77:27 and placed upon it towering, firm mountains, and given you fresh water to drink?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:28 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

77:29 ˹The disbelievers will be told,˺ “Proceed into that ˹Fire˺ which you used to deny!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ

77:30 Proceed into the shade ˹of smoke˺ which rises in three columns,

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ

77:31 providing neither coolness nor shelter from the flames.

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ

77:32 Indeed, it hurls sparks ˹as big˺ as huge castles,

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ

77:33 and ˹as dark˺ as black camels.”

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:34 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

77:35 On that Day they will not ˹be in a position to˺ speak,

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ

77:36 nor will they be permitted to offer excuses.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:37 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

77:38 ˹They will be told by Allah,˺ “This is the Day of ˹Final˺ Decision: We have gathered you along with earlier disbelievers ˹for punishment˺.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ

77:39 So if you have a scheme ˹to save yourselves˺, then use it against Me.”

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:40 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ

77:41 Indeed, the righteous will be amid ˹cool˺ shade and springs

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

77:42 and any fruit they desire.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

77:43 ˹They will be told,˺ “Eat and drink happily for what you used to do.”

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

77:44 Surely this is how We reward the good-doers.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:45 ˹But˺ woe on that Day to the deniers!

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ

77:46 “Eat and enjoy yourselves for a little while, ˹for˺ you are truly wicked.”

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:47 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ

77:48 When it is said to them, “Bow down ˹before Allah,” they do not bow.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

77:49 Woe on that Day to the deniers!

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ

77:50 So what message after this ˹Quran˺ would they believe in?
