Surah An-Nazi'at (Those who drag forth)

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا

79:1 By those ˹angels˺ stripping out ˹evil souls˺ harshly,

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا

79:2 and those pulling out ˹good souls˺ gently,

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا

79:3 and those gliding ˹through heavens˺ swiftly,

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا

79:4 and those taking the lead vigorously,

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا

79:5 and those conducting affairs ˹obediently˺!

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

79:6 ˹Consider˺ the Day ˹when˺ the quaking Blast will come to pass,

تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

79:7 followed by a second Blast.

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ

79:8 ˹The deniers’˺ hearts on that Day will be trembling ˹in horror˺,

أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ

79:9 with their eyes downcast.

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ

79:10 ˹But now˺ they ask ˹mockingly˺, “Will we really be restored to our former state,

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً

79:11 even after we have been reduced to decayed bones?”

قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ

79:12 Adding, “Then such a return would be a ˹total˺ loss ˹for us˺!”

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ

79:13 But indeed, it will take only one ˹mighty˺ Blast,

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

79:14 and at once they will be above ground.

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ

79:15 Has the story of Moses reached you ˹O Prophet˺?

إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

79:16 His Lord called him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwa,

ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

79:17 ˹commanding,˺ “Go to Pharaoh, for he has truly transgressed ˹all bounds˺.

فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

79:18 And say, ‘Would you ˹be willing to˺ purify yourself,

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ

79:19 and let me guide you to your Lord so that you will be in awe ˹of Him˺?’”

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

79:20 Then Moses showed him the great sign,

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

79:21 but he denied and disobeyed ˹Allah˺,

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ

79:22 then turned his back, striving ˹against the truth˺.

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

79:23 Then he summoned ˹his people˺ and called out,

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

79:24 saying, “I am your lord, the most high!”

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ

79:25 So Allah overtook him, making him an example in this life and the next.

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ

79:26 Surely in this is a lesson for whoever stands in awe of ˹Allah˺.

ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا

79:27 Which is harder to create: you or the sky? He built it,

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا

79:28 raising it high and forming it flawlessly.

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا

79:29 He dimmed its night, and brought forth its daylight.

وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ

79:30 As for the earth, He spread it out as well,

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا

79:31 bringing forth its water and pastures

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا

79:32 and setting the mountains firmly ˹upon it˺—

مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ

79:33 all as ˹a means of˺ sustenance for you and your animals.

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

79:34 But, when the Supreme Disaster comes to pass—

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ

79:35 the Day every person will remember all ˹their˺ striving,

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ

79:36 and the Hellfire will be displayed for all to see—

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

79:37 then as for those who transgressed

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

79:38 and preferred the ˹fleeting˺ life of this world,

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ

79:39 the Hellfire will certainly be ˹their˺ home.

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ

79:40 And as for those who were in awe of standing before their Lord and restrained themselves from ˹evil˺ desires,

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ

79:41 Paradise will certainly be ˹their˺ home.

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا

79:42 They ask you ˹O Prophet˺ regarding the Hour, “When will it be?”

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ

79:43 But it is not for you to tell its time.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ

79:44 That knowledge rests with your Lord ˹alone˺.

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا

79:45 Your duty is only to warn whoever is in awe of it.

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا

79:46 On the Day they see it, it will be as if they had stayed ˹in the world˺ no more than one evening or its morning.
