Surah An-Nazi'at (Those who drag forth)
النازعات
Makki · 46 ayahs
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا
79:1 By those who wrench out violently,
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا
79:2 and those who draw out gently,
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا
79:3 and those who glide along,
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا
79:4 then race ahead,
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا
79:5 then manage the matter.
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
79:6 On the Day the great quake will shake [the first blast],
تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
79:7 and the next will follow it [the second].
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
79:8 Hearts that Day will be trembling,
أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ
79:9 their eyes humbled.
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ
79:10 They say, “Will we really be brought back as we were?
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً
79:11 Even when we have become decayed bones?”
قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
79:12 They say, “Then that would be a losing return.”
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
79:13 It will be just one shout,
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
79:14 and suddenly they will be on the open plain.
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
79:15 Has the story of Moses reached you?
إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
79:16 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
79:17 Go to Pharaoh. He has overstepped all bounds.
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
79:18 Say, ‘Would you be willing to purify yourself,
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
79:19 and let me guide you to your Lord, so you would fear Him?’”
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:20 Then he showed him the great sign.
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
79:21 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed.
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
79:22 Then he turned away, striving hard,
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
79:23 and gathered [his people] and called out,
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
79:24 saying, “I am your highest lord.”
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
79:25 So Allah [God] seized him with an exemplary punishment for the last [claim] and the first.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ
79:26 In that there is a lesson for anyone who fears.
ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا
79:27 Are you harder to create, or the sky? He built it,
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
79:28 raised its canopy, and shaped it evenly.
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:29 He darkened its night and brought out its morning light.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
79:30 And after that, He spread out the earth.
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
79:31 From it He brought out its water and its pasture,
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا
79:32 and He anchored the mountains,
مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
79:33 as provision for you and for your livestock.
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:34 But when the Great Overwhelming Calamity comes,
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
79:35 the Day when a person remembers what he worked for,
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
79:36 and Hellfire is brought into full view for whoever can see,
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
79:37 Then as for the one who crossed all bounds,
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
79:38 and preferred the life of this world,
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:39 Hellfire will be the home.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
79:40 But as for the one who feared standing before his Lord and held himself back from desire,
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:41 Paradise will be the home.
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
79:42 They [the deniers in Mecca] ask you about the Hour: “When will it arrive?”
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
79:43 What can you say about its time?
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
79:44 Its final knowledge rests with your Lord.
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
79:45 You are only a warner to whoever fears it.
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:46 On the Day they see that Hour, it will be as if they had stayed only one evening or its morning.
