Surah Al-Buruj (The Mansions of the Stars)

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ

85:1 By the sky with its constellations,

وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ

85:2 and by the Promised Day,

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ

85:3 and by a witness and what is witnessed:

قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ

85:4 may the people of the trench be destroyed,

ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ

85:5 the fire full of fuel,

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ

85:6 when they were sitting over it,

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ

85:7 watching what they were doing to the believers.

وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ

85:8 They resented them for nothing except that they believed in Allah [God], the Almighty, the Praiseworthy,

ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

85:9 the One to whom alone belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Witness over everything.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ

85:10 Those who persecuted the believing men and believing women, then did not repent, will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ

85:11 Those who believed and did righteous deeds will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great success.

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

85:12 The grip of your Lord is truly severe.

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

85:13 He is the One who brings into being, then brings back.

وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ

85:14 And He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Loving,

ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ

85:15 Owner of the Throne, the Glorious,

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ

85:16 doing whatever He wants.

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ

85:17 Has the story of the armies reached you [Prophet],

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ

85:18 Pharaoh and Thamud?

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ

85:19 No. Those who disbelieve are deep in denial,

وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ

85:20 while Allah surrounds them from behind.

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ

85:21 No. It is a glorious Quran,

فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ

85:22 in a guarded Tablet.
