Surah At-Tariq (The Nightcommer)

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ

86:1 By the sky, and by the nightcomer,

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ

86:2 and what could make you know what the nightcomer is?

ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ

86:3 It is the piercing star.

إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ

86:4 There is no soul without a watcher over it.

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

86:5 So let the human being look at what he was created from.

خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ

86:6 He was created from a gushing fluid,

يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ

86:7 coming out from between the backbone and the ribs.

إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ

86:8 He is certainly able to bring him back,

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ

86:9 on the Day when secrets are tested.

فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ

86:10 Then he will have no power and no helper.

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ

86:11 By the sky that returns [rain],

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ

86:12 and by the earth that cracks open.

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ

86:13 This is truly decisive speech,

وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ

86:14 and it is not a joke.

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا

86:15 They [the deniers] are surely plotting,

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا

86:16 and I [Allah [God]] am planning too.

فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا

86:17 So give the disbelievers time; give them a little time.
